This week I began to think a lot about how all of the drawings will work together. As I move forward, I want to make sure that I am making new drawings that will help the viewer move easier throughout the drawings when seen as a whole.
None of these are 100% finished.
Drawing ~ 21 hours
Postcard ~ 30 minutes

We talked the other day in studio and you know what I think. . . . See you tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteYour drawing style and interest in detail is great. I also like the fact that you are making many of these and thinking about how the viewer will see them and whether it flows smoothly from drawing to drawing. I think the most logical way to display them would be to hang them in a straight line, but I am not sure what you have been considering so far. If you frame or matte them, I would keep it really simple because the drawings are so intricate. It may also be interesting to play with hanging the images in rows and columns, like 4 drawings by 3 drawings, or whatever.
ReplyDeleteI have a hard time looking at your drawings on a computer screen- but I'd love to see the progression tomorrow during class.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Alyssa that if you frame them, it should be really simple so you don't compete with the intense detail in the drawings. I also agree that you should play with different setups-- make a cluster, make rows and columns, and make a straight line, and invite people in to see how different the experience is. Ask them what their reactions are. Do you want people to flit from image to image? Do you want them to follow the images as though they are following a story? These are great things to consider.
